2009-02-12 [ReineBloodwolf]: *hello* *giggle*

2009-02-13 [ReineBloodwolf]: hello?

2009-02-16 [Paul Doyle]: This song is really typical mid-1980s hair-metal but the guitar solo is kinda cool. KISS---"Tears Are Falling" (1985)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYjD8jYfWBI
. . . and it is is quite possibly the cheesiest video ever made. I think schlock like this is a major reason why most people don't remember KISS without the makeup :P

2009-02-16 [ReineBloodwolf]: well i thnk it kool!

2009-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: Yeah, but what about those costumes? o__O

2009-02-17 [ReineBloodwolf]: THE COSTUMES ARE GREAT!

2009-02-17 [Paul Doyle]: O_o

2009-02-17 [ReineBloodwolf]: hehe

2009-02-18 [Paul Doyle]: They are like Technicolor diarrhea.

2009-02-18 [de Morte]: Haha!

2009-02-18 [Paul Doyle]: They should have never taken off the makeup-era costumes :p

2009-02-18 [ReineBloodwolf]: *true i guess^^*

2009-02-19 [Mordigen]: *snorts* technicolor diarrhea XD HA
no, they should have never taken off the make up because they were all hidious science experiments with bad white-boy perms underneath

2009-02-20 [Paul Doyle]: Speaking of KISS, when my wife and son and I were at Wal-mart the other night we found a remastered copy of the classic 1977 album Love Gun on sale for $6.98. Needless to say, I snarfed it up despite being buried under a mountain of debt. Love Gun is only about 32 minutes long (typical of the pre-CD era) but it's some classic shit. It's very mainstream and straightforward, but WOW what a fun album. It's the one that has "Love Gun" the song, "I Stole Your Love", "Plaster Caster" and Ace Frehley's "Shock Me" on it along with some other cool stuff. Definitely recommended---it was KISS at their absolute peak when they were absolutely without question "The Biggest Band in the World." (Before they did that disco shit, too.)

2009-02-20 [Paul Doyle]: Gene Simmons started losing his hair at a young age and wore a wig during the non-makeup years. That's why sometimes he has a Prince Valiant 'do on some of those '80s albums and videos.

2009-02-23 [ReineBloodwolf]: lol

2009-02-24 [Mordigen]: i never liked Kiss...even during their "peak"....i dont like it. I guess I'm just a picky music lover. Though I gotta say, Ace isn't so bad by himself. I've gone to a couple of his concerts here recenlty, as my bro-in-laws band has opened for him a couple times, and he is much more talented without KISS in my opinion.

2009-02-25 [Paul Doyle]: 1970s KISS is the kind of stuff I listen to when I've had my fill of more complicated stuff by groups like Tool, King Crimson, 1980s Metallica, Led Zeppelin, 1970s Yes and Peter Gabriel-era Genesis (back when Phil Collins simply played the drums and sang backup vocals). This is how I put my musical brain on ice.

And if Ace Frehley wasn't such a raging alcoholic, he would be one of my favorite rock musicians ever. It's no coincidence that Ace's songs with KISS (like "Shock Me" and "Cold Gin" which he wrote but did not sing) were almost uniformly better-than-average to awesome. KISS severely restricted Ace's style. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were such schmucks to piss him off and let him go . . . again!
